Chuck LaPointe, project coordinator with Information Services, participated in a panel discussion, "An Overview of Current and Future TV Applications for Residence Halls," during an meeting of the Association of College and University Housing Officers Information Technology on Oct. 28 in St. Louis.

Bill Farris, assistant director of information technology, published an article titled "Why Do We Do What We Do?" in the Dec. 2007 edition of the Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education's eNews.

Kelly LeRoux, assistant professor of public administration, presented a paper, titled "Effects of Descriptive Representation on Nonprofits Civic Intermediary Roles: Testing the 'Racial Mismatch' Hypothesis in the Social Service Sector," at the Annual Meeting of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action, held Nov. 15-17 in Atlanta, Ga. Her paper was also nominated for best paper at the conference.

Carruth-O'Leary Hall, which opened in 1955 as a men's residence hall, was named for two longtime faculty members and KU alumni: William H. Carruth, professor of German and an administrator; and English professor Raphael Dorman O'Leary. Since 1986 it has been home to the Department of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity and other administrative departments. Douthart Scholarship Hall previously stood on its site.
