WEB WORKS
A DISTINCTIVE DESTINATION:
KU's new Points of Distinction Web page is available at
www.distinction. ku.edu. The university's top points of distinction are listed, and additional points are listed by category, school and department. Individual units also have statements of purpose, such as this example from the School of Social Welfare: "Ébecause people deserve lives with dignity." The school and department sections also include links to the representative sites for each.
TOPONYMS
Opened in 1969, Higuchi Hall now houses the Kansas Biological Survey. A precursor of the research facilities that surround it, it is named for Takeru Higuchi, Regents Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Pharmacy (1967-87), who oversaw the area's growth. The Higuchi Biomedical Research Area is the umbrella name for the entities that include the Higuchi Biosciences Center, an administrative unit for several interdisciplinary research units.
