TOPONYMS:

Elizabeth Miller Watkins was among KU's most generous benefactors. Among her philanthropies: The first women's scholarships hall, Watkins Hall (1925), named for her husband, Lawrence banker Jabez B. Watkins; and its twin Miller Hall (1936), named for her brother, Frank. The first hospital, now Twente Hall, also named for her husband. The name was retained when a larger hospital opened in 1974. Watkins Home (1937), southwest of Twente, built to house hospital nurses. The Outlook (1912). Now the chancellor's residence, it was Watkins' home. For more, visit www.buildings.ku.edu.
