Teresa K. Daniel Norcross, 97, died March 9. She worked as a cook at KU. Survivors include four sons, a daughter, 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Betty Jo Pattee
Betty Jo Pattee, 84, died March 19. She worked for the KU Alumni Association. She is survived by her husband, Frank S. Pattee; a son; two daughters; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Robert A. Dentler
Robert A. Dentler, 79, died March 20. Dentler was a professor of sociology at KU. He is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons; a brother; and six grandchildren.
David Lawrence Steward
David Lawrence Steward Jr., 61, died March 28. Stewart taught English at KU. He is survived by his wife, Karen Jo Graves; his parents; two daughters; a son; a brother; a sister; his first wife; and four grandchildren.
George E. Burket
George E. Burket, 95, died March 28. Burket was an associate professor of family medicine at KU Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Sue; three children; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mary Catherine Armsworth
Mary Catherine Armsworth, 81, died March 27. She was a licensed practical nurse at the KU Medical Center from 1979 to 1991. She is survived by three daughters, two brothers, two sisters, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
NOTABLE ALUMS:
Former Simpson College president R. Kevin Legree has led a varied life since graduating from KU in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in history. He earned a law degree from Harvard and then a master's in divinity. He practiced law in Kansas City before becoming a United Methodist pastor for two Topeka churches. Then he was dean of Emory University's theology school before leading Simpson for six years. Now he is senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Des Moines.
