Deb Unferth, assistant professor of English, has been awarded a 2007 MacDowell Fellowship to pursue her writing at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, N.H. this November.
Gerald Sousa, professor of English, spoke as editor of the journal Mediterranean Studies at the official opening of the 10th International Congress of the Mediterranean Studies Association on May 31 at the University of Evora, Portugal. He also chaired a session of "Early Modern English Drama" at the Congress on June 2.

Elaine B. Sharp, professor and chair of political science, was awarded the Norton Long Career Achievement Award for a profound and lasting impact on the field of urban politics from the Urban Politics Section of the American Political Science Association.
