DEPRESSION BREAKTHROUGH
Sheldon Preskorn, professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita and chief executive officer of the Clinical Research Institute, was interviewed for a story in the Los Angeles Times about a potential breakthrough treatment for clinical depression. "To date, only three studies have been done but the results have been quite encouraging in that the drugs have worked in patients who have not benefited from serotonin selective reuptake inhibitors such as Prozac, Zoloft or Paxil which are some of the most commonly used drugs currently to treat patients with depression," Preskorn said.
AN AGE OLD PROBLEM
Susan Kemper, the Roy A. Roberts Distinguished Professor of Psychology, was included in the BBC radio documentary "The Age Old Dilemma" on Sept. 11. Kemper spoke about her research into adapting technology specifically for use by older people and other aging-related issues.
KU HISTORY
