The Edwards Campus launched a new recruitment campaign this month in partnership with Johnson County Community College. Start2Finish specifically targets adult students in Johnson County, promoting that degree seekers can earn an associate degree at JCCC and then transition to Edwards Campus for a bachelor's degree.
KU HOSPITAL
The KU Hospital will offer free flu shots during its 13th annual Drive-Thru Flu Shot event from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 10 at 39th and Rainbow Boulevard in Kansas City, Kan.
No appointment is necessary.
KU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE-WICHITA
Doren Fredrickson, interim chair and professor of preventive medicine, received the Excellence in Public Health Teaching "Golden Apple" award for achievements and contributions to public health and the department. Elizabeth Ablah, assistant professor of preventive medicine received the Kansas Health Foundation Excellence in Public Health Teaching Award for her work as an instructor and mentor.
RESEARCH MATTERS
Plants from Antarctica have revealed the icy continent was once a warm place to be. Edith Taylor, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology and senior curator of paleobotany, has studied fossilized plants that thrived there from 240 million to 260 million years ago. As the global climate warms, Taylor said, plants from South America could migrate further south, once again inhabiting Antarctica. For more information and to listen, visit
