Alice Giesecke, 102, died Feb. 11. She was an instructor in the mathematics department from 1947 to 1950. She was later hired by the Navy to teach future Navy pilots in Peru, Neb.

Charles Warner

Charles Warner, 88, died Dec. 30, 2006. He was a professor in the history department from 1957 to 1972.

The Jayhawks entered this year's NCAA basketball tournament with a No. 1 seed and hopes to vindicate the stinging first-round losses of the previous two years.
