Teaching summit set for Aug. 14
This year's All Campus Teaching Summit will focus on "Collaboration: Models, Processes and Tools to Build a Community."
The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 14. Opening sessions will be in Budig Hall, and breakout sessions will be in Wescoe Hall. The program will be available at www.cte.ku.edu in early August. To register, contact the Center for Teaching Excellence at 864-4199 or cte@ku.edu.
Topics will include models for effective collaborations, "teaching basics" on establishing classroom presence, teaching large classes, interdisciplinary international teaching, how students and teachers have benefited from partnerships and teaching innovations, implementing new promotion and tenure guidelines and new guidelines for evaluating teaching.
Other topics include: instructional partnerships, using virtual worlds in real classrooms and strategies for facilitating and sustaining faculty diversity.
A continental breakfast will be served at the Center for Teaching Excellence in Budig Hall until 8:20 a.m. Registration materials can be picked up inside the northwest entrance to Budig starting at 8 a.m. Lunch will be provided for individuals who register by Aug. 9. The summit is presented by the Center for Teaching Excellence, the Office of the Provost and the KU Medical Center.
