NTS, IS announce merger
The KU Information Services divisions of Information Technology and Networking and Telecommunications Services will consolidate into one unit by July 1. The new unit will be called Information Technology. The goal of the reorganization, which was driven by increasing technology integration beyond KU, is to ensure the continuity of all information technology operations on KU's Lawrence campus. The foci of the integration have been reducing duplication, streamlining processes based on KU's current and anticipated needs and consolidating expertise. The practical outcomes of this integration will be more efficient use of resources, creation of a new information analysis and design team and a revised service model.
Resources will be used more effiently, by better positioning them to serve KU's rapidly evolving and converging information and technology needs and to allow KU to better address broad, university-wide priorities.
A new information analysis and design team will be better positioned to help KU faculty and staff access and use the information and technology resources they need.
A revised service model will be organized around campus constituency groups and focused on management and assessment, positioning resources and expertise better for proactive outreach, innovation and consulting to the campus community.
