The Lawrence Arts Center will exhibit work by Carol Ann Carter, professor of art. The exhibit is titled "Carol Ann Carter: Mapping the Interior." The exhibit will continue until Feb. 28.

Helen Alexander, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, was notified that her USDA proposal, in collaboration with colleagues at Ohio State, was funded at a level of $139,847 to KU.

Rosemary Chapin, professor of social welfare, was appointed to the State Advisory Board for the Aging and Disability Resource Center Project. The Administration on Aging and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services awarded the ADRC grant to the Kansas Department on Aging to streamline access to service delivery systems for consumers. The State Advisory Board will provide oversight for the project.

The book "Inside the Economist's Mind: Conversations with Eminent Economists" by William Barnett, distinguished professor of economics, and Paul Samuelson, professor emeritus of economics and institute professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, moved to first place on the FT Bookshop paperback best seller list in the UK the week of Feb. 4-10.

Kevin Whitehead, lecturer in English, presented "Who Asked You, Anyway?" a panel and workshop for student music critics, at the International Association for Jazz Education Conference, Jan. 11-13 in New York City.

KU HISTORY

In February 1972, a group of women's rights advocates occupied the East Asian studies building. Their purpose was a "means of obtaining the resources to meet the pressing needs of women."
