Faculty/staff b-ball tickets available

A limited number of faculty/staff tickets for 2007-08 men's basketball games are available for purchase. Tickets are sold for the full season or in pre-selected packages. Both packages contain 11 games. To be eligible to purchase faculty/staff tickets, an individual must currently be a KU benefits-eligible employee or a retiree of KU, KUMC or the Edwards Campus and not have previously bought tickets as faculty/staff season ticket holders. Seat assignments will be made by Kansas Athletics. Tickets may be ordered online Aug. 27-31.

To order tickets online, go to KU Athletics and click on the "Tickets" icon on blue navigation bar and proceed to "Buy Tickets Online." Click on the "KU Faculty/Staff" icon and enter promotion code KUFS07. Order your tickets and enter the information requested. Full season ticket price is $990 and faculty/staff season ticket price is $792. Packages A and B cost $396.

Package A: Pitt State, Louisiana Monroe, Washburn, Arizona, Eastern Washington, Miami (OH), Yale, Missouri, Nebraska, Baylor, Oklahoma

Package B: Fort Hays State, UMKC, Northern Arizona, Florida Atlantic, DePaul, Ohio, Loyola (MD), Kansas State, Colorado, Iowa State, Texas Tech.

University Women's Club plans reception

The University Women's Club invites faculty and staff to membership in the 107-year-old organization. A reception will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 6 in the Malott Room of the Kansas Union. Chancellors Club nominations sought

Nominations are open for two Chancellors Club Teaching Professorships. Recipients receive an annual stipend of $5,000 until retirement from the university. Nominations should be sent to the Office of the Provost, 250 Strong Hall, no later than Sept. 15. For guidelines, contact the Office of the Provost.

Fine Arts seeking award nominations

The School of Fine Arts Advisory Board is seeking nominations for three awards: the Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award-Performing Arts, Alumni Distinguished Achievement Award-Visual Arts and Distinguished Service Awards. Clarification

A July 16 Oread article regarding federally funded research reimbursement rates did not mention the rates will increase two points, from 44 percent to 46 percent. The new rate will be applicable to all new grant proposals submitted from the Lawrence campus after July 1. In addition, the rate will increase a half point in 2010 and another half a point in 2011. The new rate was negotiated with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services following an intense and lengthy cost analysis study and campus visit. KU Comptroller Diane Goddard, her staff and staff in the KU Center for Research negotiated the new rate.

GTAs, GRAs can get contribution to insurance premium

Human Resources and Equal Opportunity has announced that GTAs and GRAs who meet eligibility requirements can receive a contribution toward their health insurance premium if they elect health insurance coverage through the Kansas Board of Regents GTA/GRA plan administered by United HealthCare Student Resources. For the brochure, enrollment form and rates, go to GTA/GRA Health Insurance. Eligibility is contingent upon an active appointment in the payroll system. The Payroll Office can assist GTAs and GRAs in completing the necessary supporting documents that accompany the payroll form. Those who want assistance should take their social security card to the Payroll Office, 142 Carruth-O'Leary Hall.

Dining Services adds producs from The Merc

Dining Services will partner with local consumer-owned grocery cooperative the Community Mercantile (the Merc) through the sale of vegan zucchini and pumpkin quick breads. Dining Services will introduce these products at all Pulse Coffee and Smoothie locations, including those at the Kansas Union, the Underground and the Studio. The Community Mercantile uses organic flour and grains and free-range eggs, along with other high-quality ingredients, in the preparation of its bakery items.

KU IQ

Although smaller than the post-World War II rush, the number of returning veterans going to college and paying for it using the Montgomery GI Bill is still significant. At the end of the spring 2007 semester, there were 253 KU students receiving benefits through the bill, according to the University Registrar.
