A birdbath that was originally a gift to the university from the class of 1903 has been refurbished and placed near Lippincott Hall. A dedication ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. April 14. The restoration was financed by the Historic Mount Oread Fund and Jayhawk Audobon Society. "Class of 1903" is engraved on the rim, and a poem written by Stanley Lombardo, professor of classics, is engraved on a plaque at the base of the birdbath. The gift's original stone was refurbished and a new base was designed for the birdbath.

The normally quiet third floor of Watson Library came alive with rhythm March 21 when KU Libraries staff took part in a drum circle. The drum circle encouraged staff to work together to create and maintain rhythm. Staff played the African-style drums to cap a support staff workshop.

A patch of blooming flowers provides an early harbinger of spring, while a nearby tree still shows the waning grasp of winter. With the spring semester moving toward a close, such scenes are common across campus.

KU HISTORY

Although it had existed under various names for nearly 70 years, the KU School of Nursing did not have full school standing until April 1, 1974. Before then, it had fallen under the School of Medicine. The designation was part of a larger reorganization of the KU Medical Center. Through the reorganization, the School of Allied Health was established and the School of Medicine was reconfigured. For more, visit www.kuhistory.com
