Current title: Accountant, office manager and staff supervisor, Center for East Asian Studies.

What that means: Fu maintains records not only for the center's college budget, but also for approximately $1 million in federal (Title VI) and foundation grants annually. In addition, she is also keeping the books for the newly dedicated Confucius Institute on the Edwards Campus.

Notable: Fu represents the center and the university as a whole in her duties as the Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowship coordinator, for which she reports to Washington.

She also is as a coordinator of the China Kansas Asia Scholars Program, which takes her on student trips to China. In addition, she is often credited with playing a significant role in the establishment of the Confucius Institute.

Peg Livingood

Started at KU: 2001.

Current title: Landscape architect for Design and Construction Management.

What that means: Livingood is responsible for planning for projects typically costing more than $250,000. She also acts as project manager in a support role for consultant services and design production.

Notable: Livingood has worked within the Transit Task Force to update and improve campus transit. Because of her efforts, KU secured $1 million from the Kansas Department of Transportation to buy buses.

Through this endeavor, she worked with the city, the Federal Transit Administration and KDOT to forge agreements so that the university would be able to operate the new buses for the new Park & Ride shuttle service.

KU HISTORY

The Kansan, the campus newspaper that eventually became The University Daily Kansan, made its debut Sept. 17, 1904. The first headline read "Great Mass Meeting," referring to the establishment of the paper. "Students of KU Demand a Semi-Weekly - Faculty in Too - Every One Pledged to Support it."
