NOTABLE ALUMS
Alumnus Clyde Tombaugh has been in the news recently. Before earning bachelor's and master's degrees at KU, Tombaugh discovered Pluto. Tombaugh's discovery was recently demoted to dwarf planet. The Tombaugh Observatory atop Lindley Hall is named in his honor, but is no longer in use.

Memorial Stadium, dedicated Nov. 11, 1922, was built with funds raised in memory of the 130 students, alumni and faculty members killed in World War I. The arc at the north end of the stadium covers the site of the original McCook Field, which opened in 1892. For more, visit the
