Betty Jane Anderson Betty Jane Anderson, 81, died Aug. 10. She graduated from KU with a bachelor's in biology, and worked at the KU Medical Center as a medical technologist for more than 10 years.

Survivors include five cousins, all of Lawrence. The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Bernard "Bud" Hirsch Bernard "Bud" Hirsch, 61, died Sept. 3 at his home of brain cancer. Hirsch was a noted scholar on American Indian literature and culture. He had taught at KU since 1976. Survivors include his mother, a brother, a stepbrother, a granddaughter and four nieces. The family suggests memorials to KU Center for Indigenous Studies or the American Cancer Society, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.

Memorial Stadium, dedicated Nov. 11, 1922, was built with funds raised in memory of the 130 students, alumni and faculty members killed in World War I.
