KU MEDICAL CENTER

The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases has honored Li Wang as a Liver Scholar at its annual scientific awards dinner held Oct. 28 in Boston. Wang is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine (GI Division) and Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutics at the School of Medicine.

Wang is part of a 30-member, multi-disciplinary team at the School of Medicine addressing liver disease, how to prevent, diagnose and treat it. The team recently was awarded a $10 million COBRE grant from the National Institutes of Health.

KU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE-WICHITA

D. Cramer Reed, clinical professor emeritus, received the 2006 Honorary Medical Alumnus Award at the KUMC Alumni Association's awards program in Kansas City on Sept. 15. As founding dean of the KU School of Medicine-Wichita, and the School of Health Professions at Wichita State University, Reed is largely responsible for putting the community-focused medical school campus on the map.
