In December 1923, after nearly 15 years of construction delays, the third and final wing of teh Administration Building opend on Jayhawk Boulevard. Early occupants included art and music faculty as well as he chancellor and the registar. The building was named in 1938 for Frank Strong, the sixth chancellor (1902-20) and the driving force behind its construction

NOTABLE ALUMS
1982 graduate Cynthia Carroll, an executive at aluminum producer Alcan, is the first woman and non-South African to become chief executive at Anglo American, one of the world's largest independent mining companies. It also owns 45 percent of De Beers Group, the South African diamond mining and trading corporation.
KU HISTORY
In 1914, KU benefactress Leonora Ricker Hollingberry established a residence hall for women of limited means that was never officially a part of the university but served female students for decades. Known as the Ricker Home, Ricker Hall and the Ricker Club Co-op, it housed about a dozen students per year until its closing in the 1950s.
