PLATO STEPS UP: Plato's Stepping Stones, a new book by Michael Cormack, research assistant at the Natural History Museum and Biodiversity Center, develops a new interpretation of Plato's claim that virtue is knowledge. The interpretation shows that Plato not only revealed the goal of the philosophic life, but the "stepping stones" as he calls them in "The Republic."

In December 1923, after nearly 15 years of construction delays, the third and final wing of teh Administration Building opend on Jayhawk Boulevard. Early occupants included art and music faculty as well as he chancellor and the registar. The building was named in 1938 for Frank Strong, the sixth chancellor (1902-20) and the driving force behind its construction
