NOTABLE ALUMS

Playwright William Inge called KU his alma mater. He won a Pulitzer Prize for his play, "Picnic," and an Academy Award for "Splendor in the Grass."

KU HISTORY

Chancellor Robert Hemenway's predecessor, Gene Budig, was chancellor at KU for 13 years. He left KU in 1994 to become president of Major League Baseball's American League. Budig Hall was named in his honor after he secured an $18 million appropriation to rebuild Hoch Auditoria after it burned in 1992. Learn more at www.kuhistory.com.

Studio 804 architecture students receive hands-on training in building innovative, affordable housing. They have built six houses, including the 2005 Architecture magazine Home of the Year.
